The Pupil Premium is additional funding allocated to schools to help support disadvantaged pupils in closing the attainment gap between themselves and their peers.

Pupil Premium is funding allocated to pupils who are currently Children Looked After (CLA), pupils eligible for free school meals or who have been eligible for free school meals at any point in the last six years (Ever 6).  There is also a Service Family premium for children whose parents are in the armed forces.

At present, we have 75 pupils or 41%* of our school population who are eligible for this funding.

In making provision for socially disadvantaged pupils, we recognise that not all pupils who are socially disadvantaged are registered or qualify for free school meals. We reserve the right to allocate the Pupil Premium funding to support any pupil or groups of pupils the school has legitimately identified as being 'disadvantaged'.

The child is at the centre of our approach to ensuring good progress in learning for pupils who are disadvantaged. We work hard to understand and break down any barriers to learning they may have and ensure they make progress and fulfil their potential. When planning how to utilise the funding, we follow a three-tiered model as suggested by the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF).

All schools are required to provide a strategy statement for how their Pupil Premium funding is used. This strategy is monitored carefully and reported to the Governing Body, parents and Ofsted.

The Headteacher, Mr Armstrong, is the designated Pupil Premium Coordinator & Champion for Disadvantaged Children in school. He works closely with class teachers to ensure pupils’ progress is monitored closely and that strategies are in place to tackle underachievement and remove barriers to learning.  He also works closely with our Disadvantaged school leaders within our local cluster of schools and the county.
